Marvel Studios and producer Guillermo Del Toro have released some more details about their upcoming live-action "Incredible Hulk" TV Show.  Del Toro is the executive producer on the show and also helping to write it.

The updated show will be within the Marvel universe, but it won't be following whats happening with the Hulk on the big screen like the upcoming "Avengers" movie. Working with Del Toro on the show is David Eick, who is co-writing the pilot. Eick was an executive producer on "Battlestar Galactica" and "Caprica."

According to Marvel and Del Toro, the TV show will focus on Banner when he's in his early 20s. To bring the Hulk to life on the TV screen, Del Toro says they will use both onset prosthetics and CGI for the transformation scenes and the Hulk himself.

In a recent interview promoting his new horror remake "Don't be Afraid of the Dark," Del Toro also spoke about the "Hulk" TV show with ign. He spoke about what comics have inspired him when it comes to the look and feel of the show. Del Toro said "I love the classic roots of the myth. I love the Jekyll and Hyde aspect of it, of course."

"But I also love the Jeph Loeb run he had at Marvel and all his incarnations, there's some really intelligent choices there. Jeph is involved in what we are doing. We're trying to make it unique but honor and follow the precepts in the comics."

As for the Hulk's color on the new TV series, Del Toro is staying quiet about that, but the classic green color is expect to be used to help tie the shows appearance to the upcoming "Avengers" movie.

Actual plot details have been slow in coming, but according to comicvine, a inside source at the show is telling them that Del Toro and Eick have finished their first treatment for the pilot that showcases the Red Hulk as the villain for Banner to face, but this still has to be considered as a rumor at this time.

As for the tone of the show, ABC says it will be "family entertainment" according to network president Paul Lee. They want a show that will appeal to both fans and family's.  Lee spoke about the show while at the Television Critics Association press tour.

Lee said "The show will be family entertainment, Hulk is a classic example of it. We do family entertainment, I believe, more naturally than the other networks."

And Lee says that Guillermo del Toro recently insisted that the "Hulk" television series will "exist in the real world". No official release date has been stated from the network, but they hope to have the show ready for 2013.

Since Del Toro is both a producer and writer for the show, I'm really looking forward to it. He's also helping with the design of the Hulk, so we can expect to see something a little different than what will appear in the "Avengers" movie.

I liked the "Hellboy" movies, so hopefully Del Toro can pull this off. It would be nice to see the Hulk again on the TV screen. We should find out soon who'll be playing Banner in the series, they need the right person like Bill Bixby, who brought a lot of depth to the original series. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, what do you guys think?

Wait...Hulk a family show? Maybe they shoulda gone with the Fantastic Four and a different producer. Del Toro's not exactly known for doing family friendly and Hulk is about a tortured man who inadvertently destroys everything good in his life. This kind of thinking scares me.
